Xaverian Brother Daniel Conaghan dies at 84

A 10 a.m. funeral Mass for Xaverian Brother Daniel Conaghan will be offered Sept. 30 at St. Xavier High School Goetz Chapel in Louisville, Ky. Brother Daniel died Sept. 21 at Nazareth Home in Louisville. He was 84.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Brother Daniel entered the Xaverian Brothers in July 1957, receiving his religious name, Brother Rian. He was a teacher and chief financial officer of Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore 1978-86. Elsewhere, he served in Kentucky, Bolivia and Kenya.

Brother Daniel held a bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a master’s from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
