Daughter of Charity Elizabeth Ann Lingg, a pharmacist and hospital administrator, dies at 93 April 29, 2025By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass was offered April 16 for Daughter of Charity Sister Elizabeth Ann (Shirley Elizabeth) Lingg in the Villa Chapel in Emmitsburg. Sister Elizabeth Ann, a pharmacist and hospital administrator, died April 2 at Villa St. Michael. She was 93. She served at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore as assistant to her order’s local community superior from 1968 to 1970. She served in formation in Emmitsburg (1968-70) and returned to the town to work for her order’s provincial council from 1983-1992. She also served as an administrator at Villa St. Michael (1996-2002) and St. Agnes (2002-2009). The Hanover, Pa., native was a member of St. Joseph Parish in her hometown and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in McSherrystown, Pa., in 1949 before entering the Daughters of Charity in Emmitsburg Dec. 18, 1949. Sister Elizabeth Ann earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy in 1955 from St. John’s University in Jamaica, N.Y., and a Master of Health Care Administration in Hospital Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 1973.
