A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 71 years, Sister Mary Teresa died Dec. 28 at Assisi House, at age 93. A native of Philadelphia, she graduated from St. Joseph Hospital of Nursing in Baltimore, and later serving there for five years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Villanova University and a master’s degree in nursing from St. John University in Jamaica, N.Y. She ministered primarily in healthcare and, in later years, in congregational ministries, including 46 years of ministry in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She served as coordinator of retirement for the Sisters of St. Francis, and in 2012 moved to Assisi House, where she served in prayer and hospitality ministry until her death. Print
