It continued as a tropical storm that created catastrophic damage in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee. More than 130 people reportedly lost their lives due to the storm – 30 alone in the area of Asheville, N.C. Baltimore area residents can contribute by visiting givecentral.org/Helene. “In the wake of the recent hurricane, countless lives have been impacted, leaving many in need of urgent assistance,” said Kim Montgomery, the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s chief advancement officer and executive director of the Catholic Community Foundation. “As a community rooted in faith and compassion, the Archdiocese of Baltimore is joining together to raise much-needed relief funds for those affected by this devastating event.” The archdiocese plans to forward any funds raised to the Catholic Charities USA’s Hurricane Helene Relief Fund, an organization providing direct support to individuals and families. “Every dollar contributed will help provide essential services such as shelter, food and medical care, offering hope to those who need it most,” Montgomery said. “Your generosity and prayers during this difficult time are greatly appreciated. If you are able, we encourage you to give what you can to support these relief efforts.” Read More Disaster Relief Caritas in Cuba brings ‘love and solidarity’ to victims of back-to-back earthquake, hurricane After hurricanes comes the hard part for displaced Floridians Catholic nun among 10 killed in Indonesian volcano eruption Thousands of volunteers arrive to help with cleaning, other tasks after tragic flood in Spain King, bishops decry ‘devastation,’ send condolences after dozens die in Spain’s floods Catholic Charities USA launches Hurricane Milton relief fund Copyright © 2024 Catholic Review Media Print
