Bon Secours Sister Kathleen Moroney dies at 91

A funeral Mass for Bon Secours Sister Kathleen Moroney will be offered June 26 at the Sisters of Bon Secours Chapel at the Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center in Marriottsville.

Sister Kathleen died June 14. She was 91.

Born in Limerick, Ireland, sister Kathleen knew by age 8 her call was to be a Sister of Bon Secours. She entered the Sisters of Bon Secours in Cork, Ireland, in 1950, and in 1958 she professed her final vows in Paris, France. She graduated from the Bon Secours nursing school in Cork and worked for hospitals in Cork, Dublin, Cobh and Tralee. She also served as a part-time organist for many of the hospitals where she worked.

Over the decades, she ministered in Ireland, Florida and South Carolina,

Sister Kathleen, who became a U.S. citizen in 2017, moved to Marian Hall in Marriottsville, where she enjoyed playing the piano and hosting Friday afternoon community prayer and happy hours.
