Brother Andrew Joseph Barrish, S.M., dies at 95 February 4, 2025By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Marianist Brother Andrew Joseph “Joe” Barrish was offered Jan. 28 at Queen of Apostles Chapel in Beavercreek, Ohio. Brother Joe died Jan. 20. He was 95 and had served 77 years in religious life. Born in Cleveland, Brother Joe became a Marianist postulant in Dayton, Ohio, in 1945. A year later, he entered the novitiate at Beacon, New York, and professed first vows there on Aug. 7, 1947. Brother Joe began scholasticate studies at Maryhurst in Kirkwood, Mo., before continuing his undergraduate education at the University of Dayton, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He professed his final vows in 1951. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Brother Joe taught at St. Michael’s Boys School in Fells Point 1950-52. Elsewhere, he served in Ohio.
