Parish Anniversary 2024

Not even the anger and sadness that have hit the congregation since the archdiocese finalized the Seek the City to Come plan that includes the merger of St. Mary with the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland Dec. 1 – during St. Mary’s 175th year – can keep the parish family from appreciating what it has had together.

According to longtime parishioner Jo Anne Stanton, “All are Welcome” is not just a slogan, but a way of life for the community of St. Matthew in Northwood, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

During a special June 2 Mass commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first Mass inside the completed church, Archbishop William E. Lori highlighted the faith community’s long history of welcoming others and its commitment to the Eucharist.

No one at Our Lady of Grace in Parkton, when asked about their parish’s special character, uses the phrase “radical hospitality.” But it’s what they aggressively practice through social activities. They’re designed as different ways to encourage visitors to join.
