Former St. Rita School teacher dies

Sister M. Anine Hopkins of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died May 21 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 89.

Sister Anine was born on Dec.7, 1932, in Scranton, PA, and given the name Ann Marie. She entered the IHM Congregation in 1950, made her temporary profession of vows on Aug. 2, 1953, and her final profession on Aug. 3, 1956.

Sister Anine was a teacher at St. Rita School in Dundalk, 1953-1960. She also served in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and Delaware. 

She held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Marywood College.The funeral Mass will be private.
