Sister Catherine Ann Gilvary dies at 87 January 23, 2024By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Obituaries A 10 a.m. funeral Mass for Sister Catherine Ann Gilvary, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary who was formerly known as Sister Mary St. Martin, will be offered Jan. 25 at the IHM Center in Dunmore, Pa. Sister Catherine Ann died Jan. 16. She was 87. Born in in Pittston, Pa, Sister Catherine Ann entered the IHM Congregation in 1954, and made her temporary profession of vows Aug. 3, 1957, and her final profession of vows Aug. 3, 1960. Sister Catherine Ann received a bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s degree in counselor education, and a master’s degree in religious education, all from Marywood College in Scranton. Sister Catherine Ann taught at St. Rita School in Dundalk from 1968 to 1974. She also served in North Carolina, the Archdiocese of Washington, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
