Sister Dolores Zack, OSF, served in Baltimore Archdiocese September 9, 2019By Catholic Review Staff Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Sister of St. Francis of Assisi Dolores Zack was offered Sept. 4 at St. Francis Convent in St. Francis, Wis. Sister Dolores died Aug. 25., at age 87. Baptized Margaret Mary, she was born in Baltimore, along with her fraternal twin sister, Catherine. In 1954 she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Baltimore and professed perpetual vows in 1959. (The congregation merged with the Wisconsin-based Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi in 2001). For the first 24 years of her ministry, she taught first and second grades in parish schools in Daphne, Ala.; Norfolk, Richmond and Danville, Va.; Harlem and Yonkers, N.Y. According to an obituary provided by her order, in 1984 she experienced a call to evangelization and ministry among the poor and began ministering to Hispanics at St. Patrick Parish in Fells Point. She then provided pastoral care at St. Joseph Hospital, in Towson, for eight years. She then spent 12 years offering a pastoral presence to a Hispanic parish in San Antonio. In 2011 she returned to St. Patrick’s in Baltimore as a volunteer doing outreach to the Hispanics until her move to Milwaukee in May 2019. Print
