Sister M. Celeste Parry dies at 94

Sister M. Celeste Parry of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Jan. 17 at Regional Hospital in Scranton. She was 94.

Born in Pittston, Pa, and given the name Joanna, she entered the IHM Congregation in 1948 and made her final profession of vows Aug. 2, 1954.  

Sister Celeste taught at St. Bernardine School in Baltimore from 1956 to 1959. She also had assignments in Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware and the Archdiocese of Washington.

Sister Celeste held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and a master’s degree in elementary education, both from Marywood College.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the funeral Mass was to be private.
