Sister Mary Charlotte Marshall, O.S.P., dies at 96 February 29, 2024By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Obituaries An 11 a.m. funeral Mass for Oblate Sister of Providence Mary Charlotte Marshall will be offered March 4 at the motherhouse of the Oblate Sisters of Providence in Arbutus. Sister Mary Charlotte, who served as superior general of her religious community from 1981 to 1989, died Feb. 23. She was 96 and had served 80 years in consecrated life. In addition to serving as superior general, she was her order’s secretary general 1967-77 and served as director of evangelization at St. Gregory the Great in Baltimore in the 2000s. The Memphis, Tenn., native was the eldest of three children, entering the Oblate Sisters of Providence in 1944. In addition to her mission in Baltimore, she served in Minnesota, Louisiana, Michigan and New York. She also was principal at St. Benedict the Moor in Washington, D.C.
