Need a laugh? Meet the Zoom kitten attorney February 10, 2021By Rita Buettner Catholic Review Filed Under: Blog, Commentary, Open Window The Zoom kitten attorney video started popping up in my social media feed on Tuesday night, and it just kept spreading. An attorney on Zoom for a court proceeding found himself suddenly using a filter that made him look like a sad, ashamed kitten. Somehow everyone on the call kept perfectly straight faces through the incident, which made the video clip that much more amusing. I think it’s hilarious. I laugh every time I watch it. If you haven’t seen it, you can see it here. And I’ve been thinking just how much we all need to laugh right now. Humor is everywhere. My children and my husband all have great senses of humor, and they make me laugh almost every day. I laugh with my colleagues so frequently on phone calls and video meetings. We do all of that without kitten filters. And we need laughter. There’s so much we can’t do with other people. We can’t easily hug or eat together or travel together. But we can laugh long and hard, especially when we are talking on the phone or on Zoom or FaceTime. It’s one thing the pandemic can’t take away from us. And it’s so important. My social media feed lit up with people laughing about this attorney accidentally using a Zoom kitten filter. I loved how it transcended other differences. No matter how you feel about politics or Covid or Zoom or attorneys or kittens, I am willing to bet you can find some humor in this little clip. God is so creative that he gives us reasons to laugh even when life can be stressful and crazy and uncertain. And if those reasons are a lawyer’s voice coming out of a sad kitten face saying, “I am not a cat,” then so be it. “Serve the Lord with laughter,” said St. Padre Pio. I hope you can find something to make you laugh long and hard today. Copyright © 2021 Catholic Review Media Print
