Sister Theresa Fitzgerald, IHM, taught in Dundalk, Catonsville February 16, 2021By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries Sister Theresa Fitzgerald, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Feb. 8 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 88. Formerly known as Sister Mary Lena, she was born in Dushore, Pa., and entered the IHM Congregation in September 1950. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, both in elementary education, from what was then Marywood College in Scranton. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Theresa taught at St. Rita Elementary School in Dundalk, 1963-68; and St. Agnes School in Catonsville, 1994-2004. Elsewhere in Maryland, she taught at Archbishop Neale School in La Plata, 1984-85. She also served as a teacher in Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania. She also served as assistant registrar of Marywood College, 1985-94, and accounting assistant in the Business Office at the IHM Center in Scranton, 2004-13. From 2014 until the time of her death, Sister Theresa was a prayer minister at Our Lady of Peace Residence. Because of COVID-19, a funeral Mass and graveside service at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa., were private.
