Celebration planned for Seek the City phase at Cathedral of Mary Our Queen

To mark the end of the listening phase of Seek the City to Come, the Archdiocese of Baltimore invites Catholics to attend a  June 27 celebration at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

More than 2,000 are expected to take part in the festivities, which will include a liturgy, and is promoted as an “opportunity to share faith, fellowship and feedback.”

“The goal is to have a celebration of the conclusion of the listening phase,” said Auxiliary Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., urban vicar for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. “We want to pack the cathedral. We’re going to need to pray together as we take what we’ve heard and make decisions in the next phase of Seek the City.”

After the celebration at the cathedral, the pastoral planning initiative will advance to its “vision phase” to discuss plans for the future of parish life in the city.

“We are one church family in the City of Baltimore,” said Geri Royale Byrd, Seek the City director. “In any family, you sit down and discuss it together. This is allowing us to collaborate and collectively move forward with one vision. We can’t do it if we don’t have faith. It’s all about taking a leap of faith together.”

Seek the City to Come has launched a blog on its website at archbalt.org/seekthecity to provide updates and more information on the planning initiative.
