A funeral Mass was offered at the Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg Aug. 28 for Sister Anne Black, a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.

Mission Helper of the Sacred Heart Sister Joanne Frey – whose ministries took her from Texas, where she was a catechist to the children of migrant workers, to Washington, D.C., where she taught religious education to Caroline Kennedy – died Aug. 27.

Jesuit Father Francis Schemel, who taught German at Loyola Blakefield in Towson in the 1960s, died Aug. 4 after 60 years as a priest.

Sister M. Francis Regis Vagt, who taught at St. Rita Elementary School in Baltimore from 1960-65, died July 28. She was 85.

A funeral Mass was offered June 22 for Little Sister of the Poor Joseph of St. Margaret Mary Grenon at St. Martin’s Home for the Aged in Catonsville, where Sister Joseph served for nearly 14 years, at St. Martin’s. She died June 17 at 76.
