Catholic Charities is on a ‘Mission to Move’ August 12, 2020By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Catholic Charities, Local News, News Catholic Charities of Baltimore is launching a campaign to get people moving for a good cause. “The Mission to Move” is a five-day virtual walk/run that invites participants to set step count goals and track them through a smartphone app called GivHero synced to a fitness tracker. Every time participants reach their goals, their sponsors make contributions to support the outreach of Catholic Charities. The event will run Aug. 17-21 and will feature a leaderboard of total steps taken by participants so they can track their total step counts against others. Each day, Catholic Charities will also provide brief podcast-style interviews with their experts talking about a wide range of topics such as: how to talk with your children about drugs; what to do if you encounter a person experiencing homelessness; how racism is a collective and shared trauma; how to plan for happier, healthier later years; what to know before you or a loved one moves to a senior care facility; the key to housing individuals experiencing homelessness. Registration requires a smartphone to access (https://givhero.page.link/mission-to-move). It is also accessible via desktop, but won’t register/sync steps if someone signs up that way.
