Sister Eleanor Marie died Dec. 23. She was 89. Sister Eleanor Marie coordinated everything from cooking to vehicle maintenance and hospitality for her fellow sisters at their motherhouse on Gun Road. One of seven children, Eleanor Marie Wedge was born in Washington, D.C., June 30, 1934. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic elementary school and Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro. Entering the Oblate Sisters of Providence Sept. 8, 1952, she made final vows Aug. 15, 1960. Sister Eleanor Marie’s ministries included cooking (also liaison to the kitchen), transportation (driving as well as coordinating care and maintenance of cars) and hospitality (responsible for serving retreat groups).
