Xavieran Brother Rodney Sulzer dies at 85 November 13, 2023By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Obituaries Xaverian Brother Rodney Sulzer, a longtime educator, died Nov. 8 at Nazareth Home in Louisville, Ky. He was 85. A native of Kentucky, Brother Rodney entered the Xaverian Brothers in 1956 out of high school, receiving the religious name of Brother Pierce. Brother Rodney served as a religion teacher at Mount St. Joseph High School in Irvington from 1967 to 1970. He was acting principal at Mount St. Joseph for the 1988-89 academic year. He held a bachelor’s degree from the University Of Detroit and master’s degrees from St. John’s University and Bowie State University. Elsewhere, he served in Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, New York, Bolivia, South Carolina, South Dakota and Florida. Brother Rodney donated his body to the University of Louisville Medical School. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
