Archbishop Curley to host baseball program with Miracle League April 29, 2024By Todd Karpovich Special to the Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Schools, Sports Archbishop Curley baseball coach Joe Gaeta had a colleague tell him that getting involved with the Miracle League of Harford County would be a life-changing experience – and it is. The Miracle League invites children with special needs to play on a typical baseball field. Curley began the partnership with the Miracle League this spring by doing a meet and greet at its newly constructed field in Harford County. The Friars players took Miracle League players through drills and batting practice. Curley then had a short two-inning scrimmage with them. Following the scrimmage, Gaeta set up the game for May 2. “We wanted to give them a travel experience and make the game as authentic as possible,” Gaeta said. “We will be wearing full uniforms, doing player announcements, and having umpires present. Working with organizations like the Miracle League is part of our school’s mission. “It’s something that comes pretty naturally for our student-athletes as far as interaction and communication,” he said.
