As its title suggests, the survival drama “Greenland 2: Migration” (Lionsgate) sets the three main characters featured in its 2020 predecessor on another journey. Unfortunately, their odyssey through ruined cities and a war zone is far less interesting than their earlier expedition and eventually turns into a dull slog for viewers.

Considered from an artistic point of view, “Marty Supreme” (A24), a loosely fact-based mix of drama and comedy, is an undeniably accomplished film. Approached from a moral standpoint, however, its narrative turns out to be both unsettling and, ultimately, unacceptable.

The film traces the adventurous life of the biblical king (voice of Brandon Engman in youth, voice of Phil Wickham as an adult) from his anointing by the prophet Samuel (voiced by Brian Stivale) through his defeat of the giant Goliath (voice of Kamran Nikhad) and on to a climactic battle against the Amalekites. It also focuses on three of his most important relationships.

True to form, SpongeBob emerges from his latest escapades smarter, wiser, pleased with his newly acquired skills and with increased loyalty to his friends. So, although the script’s humor may often fall short, the franchise’s beguiling charm remains.
