Sister Dorothy Elizabeth Real, O.S.F., dies at 87

A funeral Mass for Franciscan Sister Dorothy Elizabeth Real (formerly Sister Marie Patricia) was offered Oct. 26 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Dorothy died Oct. 19. She was 87 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 63 years. 

Sister Dorothy was born in Baltimore, where she was a member of St. Anthony parish and a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1957 and professed her first vows in 1959. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Neumann University (then Our Lady of Angels College) and ministered primarily in elementary education.

Sister Dorothy served in South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Delaware,  Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
