The poetic fun of spring

I’m sharing a few moments from our week in verse in honor of National Poetry Month.

~1~

The trees are pink and white and green
All wearing spring’s fantastic sheen.
I live for spring and so do you
So lovely and…achoo! Achoo!

~2~

Dyeing eggs is so much fun
A dyer’s work is never done.
Along with chicken eggs to dye,
A tiny finch egg’s just said, “Hi.”

~3~

How do you fill your eggs with treats?
With chocolates, coins, or even sweets?
This year, we have some younger guests,
So we thought stickers might be best.

~4~

A book can take you to the beach,
Put dragons well within your reach,
Or blast you off to outer space,
Make you a sleuth out on a case,
And teach you something all brand-new
Or make you laugh a time or two.
Books have no limits, none at all,
As dreams take wing, books do enthrall,
But ’til this week, I’d never quite
Seen a book that could take flight
With pages that had formed as wings.
Yet hymnal angels are a thing.

~5~

Have you met my neighbor next door?
She’s awesome, and that is for sure.
She gave me a vase,
That won’t stay in our place,
Since a giving vase must go on tour.

~6~

The spring weather arrived for a bit,
With the finches, it was a true hit,
Since a warm breeze blew through,
And outdoor birds’ voices, too,
So, they called back and forth ’til they quit.

~7~

The dandelions
Bright and happy and yellow
Are now emerging.
