Nine youths and several adult chaperones who traveled on a mission trip sponsored by the archdiocesan Missions Office were delayed by protests.

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 June 26 that a California law that placed requirements on crisis pregnancy centers that oppose abortion violated the First Amendment.

The seminarians ranged from pre-theology to those in their temporary diaconate year. They worked alongside the native people in many projects.

“I am deeply concerned for the safety of the nearly 200,000 Salvadorans, 20,000 of whom are our neighbors here in Maryland, who are being forced to return to a country that is unsafe and is clearly unable to adequately handle their return,” Archcbishop Lori said.

When the government starts putting restrictions on the practice of the faith, the lieutenant governor said, it is good to keep in mind “why we have the Constitution and the amendments and the sacrifices of the Carroll family.”
