A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Mary Alvita Maguire was offered June 7 at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore. Sister Alvita died May 27; she was 94.

Father Michael White remembered Cardinal Keeler as a “tornado” of nonstop work who considered it the “highest form of asceticism” to never waste a moment.

Ten pallbearers carried the casket up the steps of the U.S.’s first cathedral, which Cardinal Keeler had restored to the vision of its architect, Benjamin Henry Latrobe

“The church asked him to become a father to the people of God and he did that extraordinarily well,” Father Seitz said.

Sister Christine Marie Mulcahy of the School Sisters of Notre Dame was remembered for both her leadership of Notre Dame Preparatory School and of her congregation.
