The University of Maryland Medical System announced Oct. 22 the promotion of one of its longtime leaders, Dr. Thomas Smyth, as the organization’s inaugural executive vice president for its Community Health Division. 

The Baltimore Catholic League announced Oct. 24 it will have a new commissioner for the first time in 25 years.

Dr. Marylou Yam, president of Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) in Baltimore, has announced her retirement effective June 30, 2026.
