The Archdiocese of Baltimore was well represented at the national youth gathering Nov. 16-18, with nearly 250 people from 27 parishes traveling to the event.

A funeral Mass for Sister Ann Grayeski, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was offered Nov. 21 in Scranton, Pa.

“We’re a little parish choir in Westminster, invited to perform at Carnegie Hall,” said Regina McCurdy, director of liturgical music for the largest parish in Carroll County. “This is a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity.”

Sister Mary Carol called it a privilege to serve some of the most vulnerable people in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. As much as the sisters extended mercy to them, Sister Mary Carol said, the girls showed mercy back.

School Sister of Notre Dame Elise Mary Saydah, who for 58 years served in the Archdiocese of Baltimore as an educator and administrator at St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis, the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore and Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson,  died Oct. 15.

Students at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg learned first-hand about hunger and social justice.

The archbishop noted that last year, parishes in the Archdiocese of Baltimore contributed $205,800 to the collection. Nine self-help, poverty-level income groups within the archdiocese received $405,000 in national and local CCHD grants.
