A funeral Mass for Little Sister of the Poor Bernadette Wilson will be offered Aug. 17 at St. Martin’s Home for the Aged in Catonsville. Sister Bernadette died Aug. 12. She was 71.

Brother Floyd, who held a bachelor’s degree from La Salle College, served as an educator at Calvert Hall College High School in Towson from 1965 to 1968 and from 1987 to 2015. He also ministered in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

Oblate Father Carl Kabat, a former Baltimore resident who routinely described himself as a “fool for Christ” for his many faith witnesses challenging U.S. nuclear weapons policy, died Aug. 4 at his religious order’s Madonna Residence in San Antonio. He was 88.

The oldest member of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Jozef Tomko, died Aug. 8 in Rome at the age of 98.

Legendary broadcaster Vin Scully, best known for his 67 seasons calling games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, died at his home in the Hidden Hills section of Los Angeles Aug. 2. He was 94.

Brother Francis J. (Frank) O’Donnell, a tireless advocate for the downtrodden who served on numerous local boards, died July 22. Brother O’Donnell, who would have turned 80 next month, had been a member of the Marianist community for 62 years and a practicing lawyer for the past three decades.

A funeral Mass for Daughter of Charity Sister Mary Clare (Anne Clare) Hughes was offered June 30 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg. Sister Mary Clare died June 25. She was 97.

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Barbara Mary Slaney was offered June 29 at Villa Assumpta in Towson. Sister Barbara Mary died June 22. She was 86.

Father Michael J. Himes, who retired last year after nearly three decades on the faculty of Jesuit-run Boston College, died June 10 at 75. No cause of death was given.

Sister M. Daniela McCarthy, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died May 30 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. She was 101.
