High school students invited to participate in human trafficking video contest

High school students across the United States are invited to participate in a contest to create short videos outlining what they would do to help prevent human trafficking. Sponsored by the Alliance to End Human Trafficking, an outreach of U.S. Catholic religious sisters, the contest includes monetary prizes of $1,000 for first place, $750 for second and $500 for third.

Maryland Center for History and Culture receives $2.5 million grant to explore religious tolerance in state

The Baltimore-based Maryland Center for History and Culture received a $2.5 million grant in January to explore the state’s role in religious diversity with the goal of producing an exhibit on the topic by the fall of 2026.

A funeral Mass for Carmelite Sister Patricia of Jesus (Patricia Ann Scanlan) was offered Jan. 31 at the Carmelite Monastery in Towson. Sister Patricia died Jan. 19 at Stella Maris in Timonium. She was 92 years old and had been a member of the Carmelite Sisters of Baltimore for 74 years.
