A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Mary Jacquelyn Elly was offered June 6 at Villa Assumpta in Towson. Sister “Jackie” died at Stella Maris Nursing Center in Lutherville May 27. She was 93.

Following a hiatus of several years, the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Liturgical Commission is back. The reboot, which took effect in May, is partially related to the U.S. bishops’ National Eucharistic Revival and the need for ongoing formation and teaching about the liturgy – especially the Eucharist, according to Monsignor Richard Hilgartner, pastor of St. Joseph in Cockeysville and a member of the commission.

Catholic Relief Services, the U.S. Catholic Church’s international relief and development agency, is assisting recovery efforts following a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake that has killed more than 2,900 people in Morocco and injured thousands, the group said.

In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Father Allen served for a year as an assistant chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore. He was chaplain at Good Samaritan from 1982 to 2000. He also served as superior of the Ferdinand Wheeler House in Baltimore for three years.

Montoya was named the Archdiocesan High School Teacher of the Year. She has been teaching chemistry at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn for the past seven years, but her entire teaching career has been with the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
