Ray Repp, the liturgical musician who spearheaded the concept of the folk group-led “guitar Mass” with his “Mass for Young Americans,” died April 26 in Palm Springs, California, of complications from cancer. He was 77.

Father G. Richard “Dick” Dimler, a former professor of German literature at what is now Loyola University Maryland and an expert on Jesuit emblems, died April 14. He was 88.

Jesuit Father Francis Moan, former Loyola Blakefield headmaster, dies at 93

Jesuit Father Francis X. Moan, a Baltimore native who eventually became a headmaster at his alma mater, Loyola Blakefield, and later tirelessly worked to improve the lives of refugees in America, died April 17 from complications of COVID-19, his family said. He was 93.

Sister Mary Gerald McCloskey, D.C., spent 56 years serving in Bolivia

A funeral Mass was offered April 6 in the Daughters’ Villa St. Michael Chapel in Emmitsburg for Sister Mary Gerald McCloskey. A Baltimore native who spent 56 of her 66 years as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, including as a missioner in Bolivia, Sister Mary Gerald died April 1, at age 85.
