Approximately 200 doctors, nurses, medical professionals and others gathered for the annual White Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore. The event attracted those currently engaged in the health profession, as well as students, retired doctors, surgeons, nurses and pharmacists.

The U.S. bishops will gather in Baltimore Nov. 11-14 for their 2024 fall plenary assembly, which takes place just weeks after the conclusion of the second session of the Catholic Church’s synod on synodality in Rome.

Dr. Nancy S. Grasmick, former superintendent of Maryland Public Schools for 20 years, will serve as the chairwoman of a search committee that will select a new superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

The Institute of Notre Dame Alumnae Association announced that it has donated $45,000 this fiscal year to five all-girls schools in the Baltimore area, keeping alive the impact of the revered East Baltimore Catholic School that closed in 2020 after 173 years.

“The spiritual world is real,” Father Boric said. “When you use a Ouija board, you’re really opening yourself up to something very dangerous. You’re opening yourself up to the devil and his lesser angels – and they can really do harm, just as the good angels really do a tremendous amount of good.”
