A nationally renowned librarian, a beloved retiring university president, a dedicated academic and Maryland’s first secretary of service and innovation are the featured commencement speakers at Maryland’s four Catholic universities this May.

An 11 a.m. funeral Mass for Josephite Father Richard F. Wagner will be offered May 3 at Church of the Incarnation in Washington, D.C. Father Wagner died April 26. He was 91.

“This is difficult,” the bishop said. “It’s heart-wrenching. But we’re at a pivotal moment in the city church. We need to do this. We need to do this because our church membership is getting older and we’re not replacing ourselves.”

Loyola University Maryland’s Simon Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship awarded a total of $25,000 to four ventures that participated in the center’s Baltipreneurs Accelerator, a four-month part-time program supporting startup businesses and social ventures with training, technical assistance, mentorship, networking and access to capital.

The Miracle League invites children with special needs to play on a typical baseball field. Curley began the partnership with the Miracle League this spring by doing a meet and greet at its newly constructed field in Harford County.
