Sister Nancy Crossen, O.S.F., dies at 94 February 8, 2023By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Franciscan Sister Nancy Crossen will be offered Feb. 14 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Nancy (formerly Sister Mark Francis) died Feb. 7. She was 94 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 74 years. Born in McKeesport, Pa., Sister Nancy entered the congregation in 1946 and professed her first vows in 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education/mathematics from was is now Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg and a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Delaware. Sister Nancy ministered for 23 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, teaching at St. Anthony School in Baltimore, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Essex and The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She also served for 16 years as the coordinator of ministries at the congregation’s provincial residence in Baltimore. Elsewhere, Sister Nancy ministered in Delaware, New Jersey, Alabama and South Carolina.
