This year alone, over 13,000 people have died as a result of gun violence in this country. And according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an average of 93 Americans is killed by guns each day based on data from the past five years.

Our soldiers, sailors and their families have, and will continue to sacrifice for our nation’s ideals. They do so willingly without fanfare or recognition.

Our older son is 10 today—double digits! It’s his golden birthday (10 on the 10th), and he has been counting down the days, of course.
