A theme of togetherness resounded within the diverse groups receiving grants at the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s annual Catholic Campaign for Human Developmental awards luncheon Aug. 10 at St. Bernardine Church in West Baltimore.

The parish community at St. Ignatius of Loyola in Ijamsville partnered Aug. 4 with Anna’s Gift, assembling more than 800 kits for sick children in need of some comfort and happy memories.

Young adults from across the Archdiocese of Baltimore will have plenty of opportunities to experience next year’s World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal – both in person at the international gathering of young people and through a yearlong series of local pilgrimages that kicks off this month.

Decrying President Joe Biden’s new executive order on abortion, the chairman of the U.S. bishops’ pro-life committee said Aug. 5 that “continued promotion of abortion takes lives and irreparably harms vulnerable pregnant mothers, their families and society.”

The Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade “presents a historic opportunity to reshape society for the better,” said the chairmen of U.S. bishops’ committees on pro-life activities, religious liberty, marriage and family, and domestic policy.

“It was extraordinarily jarring the first time the bombing sirens went off,” Kraska said. Equally jarring was traveling into downtown Lviv and seeing the paintings and statues of the cathedral and other buildings swathed in boards and metal in an attempt to protect them.
