What is the miracle that we receive in the Eucharist – the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord? A new documentary, “Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist,” looks at the practice of the Catholic faith around the world and devotion to the Real Presence.

Many of the nearly 100 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Baltimore who attended the National Eucharistic Congress July 17-21 in Indianapolis are leaving the historic gathering renewed in faith and more determined to spread devotion to the Blessed Sacrament in their home parishes and local communities.

More than 100 bishops and cardinals, including Baltimore Archbishop William E. Lori and Baltimore Auxiliary Bishops Adam J. Parker and Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., marched in procession with thousands of other Catholics.

“The gift to God for me has been for me to abide in him,” said Sacay, a student at Community College of Baltimore County. “I can pay that forward by bringing other young people to abide in the Lord through adoration – and I was thinking and planning with my friends to begin adoration for young people in our local parish and really cultivate true and holy friendship where people can share their struggles and their challenges.”

The group was scheduled to provide liturgical music with four other choirs under the direction of renowned conductor and composer Z. Randall Stroope during the daily Mass. Things took a turn when Stroope suffered a medical emergency and was taken away by ambulance before the Mass.

Nearly 100 travelers from the Archdiocese of Baltimore arrived in Indianapolis July 17 to participate in the National Eucharistic Congress, looking to revel in the shared joy of the culmination of a three-year faith journey.

The archdiocese’s goal this year is to raise $100,000 for the buyback. Held in partnership with the Baltimore Police Department, the buyback hopes to reduce the number of guns in the community.
