After years of planning, St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park is undergoing extensive renovations that will give the house of worship a completely new look and an opportunity to highlight its patron saint.

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Kathleen Marcella Kelly was offered Oct. 24 at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh. Sister Kathleen died Oct. 17. She was 92.

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Ann Elizabeth (Mary Benedictus) Hartnett was offered Nov. 19 at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore. Sister Ann died Nov. 7 at Stella Maris. She was 88.

A funeral Mass for Adrian Dominican Sister Sarah Ann Sharkey, formerly known as Sister John Peter, was offered Nov. 26 at St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian, Mich. Sister Sarah Ann died Nov. 19. She was 83 and in the 64th year of her religious profession.

Father John Riccardo and the Acts XXIX Team will be the featured speakers during a Feb. 11 “evening of renewal and worship” beginning at 7 p.m. at Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City.

The new Blessed Michael J. McGivney Propaedeutic House of Formation in Baltimore was formally dedicated and blessed by Archbishop William E. Lori at a ceremony Jan. 23 after extensive renovations to a former visitor center and the completion of an additional building. 

Redemptorist Father Patrick Flynn, who served the parish of St. Mary in Annapolis for nearly two decades, died  Jan. 14 in his native South Africa. He was 83.
