Monsignor William “Bill” Collins, a Baltimore native who served his home archdiocese for more than six decades, died of lung cancer Dec. 10 at St. Stephen’s Green. He was 88.

Sandra Day O’Connor, who was the first female U.S. Supreme Court justice, and often a crucial swing vote as a moderate, died Dec. 1 in Phoenix, per a statement from the high court. She was 93.

A funeral Mass is scheduled Nov. 28 in Philadelphia for Sister of St. Francis Imelda Dooley, who died Nov. 20. Sister Imelda, formerly Sister Imelda Catherine, was 91.

Sister Augustine Marie (Georganne) Molnar, 43, was killed Nov. 18 in a head-on automobile accident on Route 183 in Jefferson Township, according to the Berks County, Pa., coroner.

Former first lady Rosalynn Carter, passed away Nov. 19 at her home in Plains, Georgia, according to a statement from The Carter Center.

Brother Rodney served as a religion teacher at Mount St. Joseph High School in Irvington from 1967 to 1970. He was acting principal at Mount St. Joseph for the 1988-89 academic year. He held a bachelor’s degree from the University Of Detroit and master’s degrees from St. John’s University and Bowie State University.

A funeral Mass for Josephite Father Daniel Bastianelli will be offered Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter Claver/St. Pius V in West Baltimore. Father Bastianelli died Oct. 28 at Carroll Manor in Washington, D.C. He was 90.
