Our Daily Bread keeps up with surge in demand

Even though Our Daily Bread Employment Center’s flow of donated casseroles has dwindled over the last few months and it had to suspend the use of volunteers, the Catholic Charities-run outreach has kept up with a substantial increase in demand for meals during the coronavirus pandemic.

A funeral Mass was offered April 6 in the Daughters’ Villa St. Michael Chapel in Emmitsburg for Sister Mary Gerald McCloskey. A Baltimore native who spent 56 of her 66 years as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, including as a missioner in Bolivia, Sister Mary Gerald died April 1, at age 85.
