Poland’s military archbishop urged security forces to prevent the illegal entry of refugees and migrants, as the country’s bishops’ conference announced a nationwide collection to help those amassing on the frontier with Belarus.

The U.S. Supreme Court late Aug. 24 said the Biden administration must restore a Trump-era immigration policy known as “Remain in Mexico.”

Bishop Mark J. Seitz of El Paso, Texas, asked Vice President Kamala Harris June 25 to engage with the faith community as partners on a path to bring relief and a compassionate solution to immigration issues in the Americas and to “hear the voices” of those turned away at the border.

“We need to evangelize our own, we really do,” said Don Kerwin, executive director of the Center for Migration Studies in New York. “Really, the whole church is not with us and we should be honest about that. We don’t need messaging as much as we need Catholics to be in communion with migrants, as many of you have talked about.
