My hats go off to all graduates of all grades everywhere. In surviving this, you have gained wisdom, skill sets, patience and appreciation that will guide you everywhere you go.

As we mark the centenary of the birth of Karol Wojtyla, who became St. John Paul II, it caused me to reflect on moments of my life that intersected with the man who was pope for a great chunk of my life and career in Catholic journalism.

I finally got my hands on some years, and I made homemade pizza this week.

We do not live in a morally neutral universe. Good and evil, life and death, do contend with each other.

May we indeed persevere, in this and in every time of trial, so that one day we may reign with Christ in the presence of Mary Our Queen.

Rather than connecting some pop culture offering of this moment, I want to promote The Chosen because I want to promote Jesus and discipleship.

God is love. He loved us first – and loves us forever. He knows us best, seeing deep within us to all we are and all we can be. He sees us and loves us fully. He holds us – and the past, present and future – in his hands.

Now more than ever, we must deepen the relationships around us, which afford us an opportunity to encounter God anew.
